Summary: An excellent next chapter. A must read for anyone involved!
Comment: A delighted reader in Ohio. I'm glad for someone like Dr. Laura, she gives insight where once was only confussion. This book is a must have for anyone in a relationship and wondering what is going on. Excellent reference material when the Radio Show isn't on the air.

Summary: Dr. Laura's Cookie Cutter World
Comment: Like many talk radio listeners, I was drawn in by Dr. Laura Schlessinger's refreshingly frank approach to marriage and family therepy. How nice that someone had the courage to stand up to the increasingly victim-centered world in which we live. If Dr. Laura's philosophy stopped there, she would be a national treasure. Instead, on her show and in this book, she reveals herself instead to be a typical right wing anti-feminist, content to reap the benefits of the changing world without acknowledging how much of her career is possible only because of the work of the same feminists she claims to disagree with. Schlessinger claims to be pro-child but her true nature is not pro-child but anti-woman. How else to explain the ridiculous assertion (made on her show) that working motherhood is "always a choice". This may be true for the privledged world of radio personalities, college professors and family therepists, but for many others working is the difference between living on the street and keeping the family alive. Stereotyping working women as materialistic and self-centered is evil. It would be easy to write-off Schlessinger as a typical woman-hater, but the truth as revealed in this book shows that her perspective on men isn't much broader. I read the book without recognizing behavior of any of the many men of my life. In Schlessinger's world, all men like sports and all women like to shop. She has no understanding of the true diversity of life that makes the world so fascinating and priceless. How sad that people think of this silly woman as wise. She is a narrow-minded as they come.

Summary: good common sense
Comment: Dr Laura would get 10 thumbs up for this one, if I only had 10 to give. Men, I encourage you to read it, examine your own life, and look for ways to improve it. Dr Laura's advice is centered on old fashioned values which too many people in modern society have thrown away. Was I guilty of anything in this book? You bet I am, and I wish I had read it 20 years ago. Women -- not all of this advice is strictly for man bashing, some of it could apply to you too!
