Summary: Lucinda Bassett continues to amaze me !
Comment: I first saw Lucinda Bassett on Oprah about 7 years ago, when I was 18, and my life hasn't been the same since. Lucinda's techniques for dealing with daily life and stress have become second nature to me, so much so that I have difficulty remembering a time when Lucinda's insight wasn't a part of my life.
One would think that after having produced one of the most successful self-awareness and self-help programs of all time (the "Attacking Anxiety and Depression" program), and having seen that program go on to be used by countless individuals, not to mention doctors and mental health organizations, Lucinda would rest on her laurels. But Lucinda hasn't - she never stops! She keeps growing and coming up with wonderful and inspiring ways to view life, difficult situations, and to cultivate self-esteem.
Perhaps the most striking thing about this book is the revelation by Lucinda that she, whose programs, books, and seminars have been effectively utilized by many clinical institutions and major corporations (McDonalds, Chrysler, AT&T), is always guided by her intuition. This stuck me as interesting because so often intuition is thought of as untrustworthy, irrational, and unreliable; yet Lucinda's work is consistent, rational, effective, and well respected by many established and reputable persons and institutions. Lucinda tells the reader that when you become more respectful of your intuition, or "gut feelings," you can often bring into your life a sense of synchronicity that you can then utilize to help gain your heart's desire - whether it be inner peace, a new car, a new job, or a more understanding relationship with family members. Thus, this book adds deeper insight and dimension to a topic that has always been present in Lucinda's work - spirituality.
Authors and speakers who are as knowledgeable as Lucinda can sometimes come across as being a little patronizing, a little better-than-though, but Lucinda almost comes across as being a friend. The information in this book can and does stand on its own, but Lucinda has a wonderful way of presenting the information. She's just one of those people who has a gift to make you feel like you know her. She comes across as very down-to-earth, humble, and caring.
I really like this book!

Summary: Has some great tips and amazing personal stories!
Comment: Ms. Bassett has some great advice for anyone who is really interested in over-coming an anxiety disorder and/or depression. She's a true believer in the idea that these disorders can be cured, or managed even with some good guidance and coaching in facing your fears and achieving your goals. The chapter on listening to your intuition is astounding! Read this book purly for that chapter. I have applied those techniques and they work so fabulously well, I'm truly amazed. Her own intuition is always in overdrive, so be prepared to be wowed by her. I would consider her to be the expert in following your "God" voice, as she describes it. She has saved peoples lives and her own business from total ruination by listening to her intuition, so she's a proven expert on that subject. Also, her real-life stories will bring you to tears and teach you a thing or two about how to handle life situations. I recommend further reading of Rhonda Britten's books to really tackle all the issues of fear and living out your dreams. But, Lucinda's book is a must-read!
