Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK
Comment: I read this book three years ago and ever since I've searched for a book that equals it. Atonement by Ian McEwan comes close but not quite as good. I loved the way it flowed, I loved the characters, I hated that it ended! I've recommended it to everyone I know that really loves books.

Rating: 5
Summary: A beautiful story of personal growth and redemption.
Comment: While the length of this novel may seem intimidating, once you get into the story you will be so glad that there is so much more of this wonderful book to read. Reading this book is like going to live in someone else's skin for a week. Not that it's always a comfortable place to be. Dominick Birdsey, the central character, is a man trying to retain his sanity while he deals with the continuous calamities that keep befalling him and his family, most at the hand of his schizophrenic identical twin. (Apologies for the pun.) At it's heart this is a story about how peace and maturity come from accepting one's heritage, for better or worse. I've tried to recommend this book to friends, but they've been turned off by the subject-matter. However, even when Dominick's life is at its nadir, the book is such a compelling read that you can't put it down. You'll be glad you didn't. I can't remember the last time that I was truly surprised by the ending of a book, but this one was wonderfully unexpected.

Summary: An Unforgettable Experience...
Comment: I am an English teacher, so when it comes to reading novels in the summertime, I am very picky. I loved Wally Lamb's first novel She's Come Undone, and I couldn't wait to read his second. I can honestly say that I Know This Much Is True is one of my favorite novels of all time! I could NOT put this book down. Lamb allows the reader to journey through the ups and downs of a man we as readers grow to love and cheer for. Lamb's writing style is beautiful, smooth, realistic, and modern. He is a great observer of human nature! This novel filled my heart with so many emotions, and my mind was forced to linger with so much food for thought... When I read the very last sentence, I actually hugged the novel and wished that it wouldn't end. (Perhaps there will be a sequel? ) I am a HUGE new fan of Wally Lamb. I can't WAIT for his next masterpiece. (And someday he is definitely going to find his works on my reading list for my students!) If you haven't yet read this book, DIVE IN!!! You are in for an unforgettable experience...
