Summary: Platt races to the finish line with another winner!
Comment: After I read HOLIDAY HOMECOMING to my granddaughter, I just had to get on the Net and buy Chris Platt's latest, DERBY DREAMS. It is heart-warming to know that authors like her are still writing wholesome, entertaining books for children. It's important for young girls to have role models like Ashleigh Griffen; it helps them develop their own minds. Whenever a problem came up in DERBY DREAMS and her parents methods seemed to be failing, it was interesting to see Ashley come up with her own unique solution. True, her solutions often get her in trouble, but they work; she has an imaginative, bright mind. Both Ashleigh's and Chris Platt's knowledge and love of horses is evident throughout the book. Being city dwellers, my granddaughter and I both learned a lot about the operations of a breeding farm and about horses, in general. The book was not only entertaining but educational, as well. Royal Renegade--what a horse! Ashleigh Griffen--what a girl! And Chris Platt--what an author! FIVE STARS for DERBY DREAMS--what a book!

Summary: Great Book- Possibly Best In Ashleigh Series!
Comment: This (is in my opinion) the best of the Ashleigh series! I wasn't expecting much, but I bought it anyway. I started it as soon as I got home and loved it! I suppose I should fill you in: Ashleigh's family buys a racehorse named Royal Renegade! He wins his first race, but soon starts losing and becomes mean! I won't tell you the rest, but I tell you one thing: if you buy it, you won't be sorry!

Summary: Edgardales Race horse
Comment: This was a pretty good book and was written well but it has many things in it that are wrong. If you read the first book in the thoroughbred series it states that Edgardale never had their own race horses in training they were strictly a breeding farm but in this book he is a horse in training. And also in the first thoroughbred book it says Ashleigh never considered wanting to be a jockey and in the Ashleigh books she has wanted to be a Jockey from book one in that series. So if you ask me any book in the Ashleigh series is a waste of your money the original thorougbred series is much better.
