Summary: Lions, Witches and Wardrobes--Oh My!
Comment: Because it is so spectacular, I'm choosing The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe to be the first book I review here at Amazon. I first fell in love with this story (and the subsequent volumes in the series) when my fifth-grade teacher read it to our class. Though it has been more than a decade since, this book has remained one of my all-time favorite works of literature, and I try to reread it once a year. It has an enchanting effect on the heart, mind and soul that never diminishes.
The novel features four British children: Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy (Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve) who discover a magical world hidden behind fur coats in a wardrobe. In "Narnia", they encounter an endless parade of fantastic characters and events that aid them in their quest to free the land of Narnia from the spell of the White Witch. She makes winter a permanent season and turns those who oppose her into stone. The most prominent Narnians are the talking animals, but especially the lion Aslan who, with the children's help, must return spring and benevolent rule to the land.
On a more analytical note, I find it fascinating how C.S. Lewis uses allegory to loosely bridge his fictional world with well-known themes and stories from the Bible. You can most easily recognize this in the ever-present battle between good and evil and the symbolic representation of Christ's Resurrection in the guise of Aslan's death and revival on the Stone Table. Which fulfills an "even deeper magic from before the dawn of time."
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a modern classic that should be included in EVERYONE'S library. It will leave you completely satisfied, but at the same time craving more (which can be found in the other six volumes of the Chronicles of Narnia series). Oh, to sit and rule at Cair Paravel while munching on Turkish Delight!

Summary: Chronicals of Narnia Radio Theater
Comment: Wow! I just listened to a copy of the radio theater version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and was VERY impressed with the quality of the production. It's very different from just a "book on tape." It takes your imagination away with it. I felt as though I was there crunching through the snow in the wood on the other side of the wardrobe and there through the tea in the beaver's house, etc., etc. I was listening in my car and sat in the driveway for 15 minutes to hear the end of the first tape!
I wanted to hear the production before I sent it to my neices for Christmas. I've read the books several times and was concerned with whether or not the radio theatre would accurately represent the books. I was not disappointed. I got them for my neices and Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this radio theater series to lovers of Lewis's books and especially to parents(even if they don't know Lewis's writings all that well). It's an adventure! Oh, it also would be great on long car trips for both children and adults. Rating: 5 Thank you for visiting www.AnyBook4Less.com and enjoy your savings!

Summary: A Book of Adventure!
Comment: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was a very good book. I really love this book and highly recommend it to any readers who seek adventure, for it is full of it. Four children; Peter, Susan, Edmond, and Lucy, are staying with a professor in England. The youngest sister, Lucy, who is not much thought of by Edmond, finds a fantastic world through the back of a wardrobe. This fantastic and wonderful world is called Narnia. Spreading the news of her find to her siblings is not very easy. They are finally convinced when they stumble upon Narnia themselves. Their adventure continues as they find themselves fighting battles and working together to conquer evil. This story is an allegory of Jesus dying on the cross and defeating the enemy.Similar Books:
