Summary: The WISH come true
Comment: I've been a fan of Gail Carson Levine since I read ELLA ENCHANTED and her giddy PRINCESS series. Unlike her prvious books this one is set in the here and now, nevertheless Ms Levine manages to put in a touch of magic in the form of an old woman (or is she a witch in disguise) who grants Wilma one wish as a thank you for an act of kindness. Lonely, unpopular Wilma wishes to be "the most popular kid at Claverford" and ends up wondering if she really wanted what she wished for.
This is a sweet funny book that examines the road of popularity and true friendship. It touches a cord in everyone who ever longed to be popular in school. Wilma herself is a believable and very likable girl. Readers of all ages will easily identify with her need to fit in. A funny and poignant read. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Levine.

Summary: The Wish
Comment: This book was pretty okay. It's about a girl named Wilma who has her wish granted about being the most popular person at her school, Claverford. But she realizes that even though she has her newfound popularity, she will graduate and go to college in only 3 weeks. Will she be able to keep her new friends and boyfriend? What I didn't like about this book was that it was in modern times. I don't have anything agains books set in the modern times at all, its just I enjoyed her books with different time settings better than this one. But I guess if this book was set in the medival times, girls probably wouldn't be worrying about their popularity as much as they do now. An okay book, but I've read better.

Summary: The Wish
Comment: The Wish comes true!
Imagine a book about a teenage girl who is unpopular at her middle school and only has a
few friends. Her only dream is to be popular at school. One day she is on the subway on the way to school, and she sees an old lady on the subway trying to find seat, but they are all taken. Wilma decides to give her seat up to the old lady. The lady is so appreciative that she offers to grant Wilma a wish. Wilma thinks this old lady is out of her mind, so she says no thank you. The lady insists, so Wilma makes her wish to be popular.
When I read this book, I felt like I was there, right smack- dab in the middle of all of the chaos that was going on in Wilma's, the main character's, life. I liked the way Levine described each of the characters and the way Wilma thought about each one of them.
Wilma was an unpopular teenage girl who wished to be popular more than anything. I liked the theme that Levine chose for this book because it was realistic and that is one of the only things that goes on in this book. Who can believe that one day a girl is not popular and then she meets and old lady on the subway who grants her wish to be popular and "poof!" All of a sudden the next day she is popular.
It is a little bit too unimaginable. If an author is going to write a fantasy book, I think all of the characteristics of the book should be fantasy; it is way too hard to imagine the things that happen in a fantasy book actually happening in real life.
