Summary: Don't Judge a Book by its Review....
Comment: As a frequent user of Peachtree Accounting Software, I am well aware of the difficulties that the software often poses to those who try to use it without an accounting background. Although I have used it only in such an environment, Peachtree is a difficult software to master, and it takes time and persistance. That being said, when looking at reviews for any book, it is important to take into account the background of the person who is writing the review. As of this moment, there are several other reviews of this book on Amazon.com and not many are from those who have an accounting background (which is understandable, given the nature of this book). I do agree with the comment that this book rehashes what the Peachtree Manual says, and for those of you who are fortunate enough to be able to reference the Manual for Peachtree, I would advise you to first reference the manual, then go through the practice companies, and then if you are still having difficulties, call your accounting firm and ask their bookeeper to recommend a book that would cover the software in an appropriate manner. People from all different educational and professional backgrounds purchase these books, and some find them more helpful than others based on such backgrounds. The reviews of this book have reflected that the majority found the material unhelpful and hard to understand. This may be one aspect that you should consider when purchasing this book, however this should be balanced out by the background of who wrote the review. Improper grammer usage, blatant spelling mistakes, and non-constructive criticisms of the book could reflect alternative reasons why a reviewer may not have been able to understand the material. Peachtree for Dummies is written for people who dont know the first thing about accounting, finances, and how one would track expenses and receivables in your own company. Peachtree made Easy serves to clarify some of the finer points in Peachtree which may not be made clear by the program itself - such as which reports serve what function, how to change a journal entry, and menu functions that are not spelled out for the users. As I said before, this information is helpful to some users, but not to all. My final piece of advice is to perhaps read some of the pages that Amazon.com has on their site, and check out the sites of other bookstores. The more reviews you can access the better informed you will be about your purchase! These are expensive books, choose wisely!
I hope this was helpful...

Summary: A waste of dough.
Comment: I have already read the reviews on this page before I bought the book but I don't have that band wagon mentality so I found it myself. Yes, I have read through the book but finally stopped 1/3 of the way...I got lost. It's not really a step by step instructional book so I have to figure out what the author means and I have grown tired of it. I have a strong accounting background and I'm doing well with manual bookkeeping all I need is to computerized my books. This book is not helping. Right now I'm planning to buy those books for dummies or go to the Peachtree website and check their self study guides...I don't know...but FORGET ABOUT THIS ONE!

Summary: Great Resource
Comment: Easiest book I've used to learn PeachTree Accounting's latest version (7.0). Great resource to lookup paste learned information and HOWTO.
