Summary: This is a complete reference - a very good one too.
Comment: I had a background in Dreamweaver and I knew a little asp, after reading this book from cover to cover I am not only confident in constructing data driven sites with ultradev, but I have improved my knowledge of asp sql, and database design quite considerably.

This book goes into details on things like database design and security, and constructing sql statements. The book also gives an overview of the three different server models that UD uses (asp, jsp, cfm) and gives an overview of VBscript, JScript, Java and ColdFusion scripting languages. It even explains how to write your own extensions for ultradev.

The book doesn't really delve into UltraDev until after the halfway point in the book but when it does it explains how to use all features and hoe to use them well. The last chapter shows you how to construct an eCommerce application with UltraDev.

If you are looking for a book on UD then but this book - great for the beginner or the expert, a lot of thought went into this one. I can't think of anything this book left out it really is a complete reference.

Summary: The Only Book Required for Dynamic Websites with UltraDev
Comment: What can I say!? You really can't get any more complete than this book! I've been designing websites for 2 years now and after reading through the whole book, I would have to say that everything you could want to know about using UltraDev has been covered in a very readable and well thought out way. Even with experience there is a lot of useful information in the book. Not only that, it covers heaps of other useful related topics such as databases, web server administration and site design, as well as the more "get your hands" dirty topics such as extension development for Dreamweaver and UltraDev.
From newbie to experienced, this book covers every possible topic you could want to know, and if you read the entire book you will most certainly come out better for it. At over 800 pages it is what it says: THE COMPLETE REFERENCE!.

Not only does it cover just about everything you need to know relating to Ultradev 4 but it's written in a very readable style that is easy to follow. I was at first intimidated by it's size and content but I found that the writing style made it very easy to follow.
