Summary: Finally! *THE* Book on Manned Space Systems.
Comment: Not since Koelle's "Handbook of Astronautical Engineering" from the dawn of the Space Age way back in 1961 has there been a comprehensive astronautics text that details requirements for manned spaceflight, including analysis for near term missions to the moon and Mars. For the past 10 years the aerospace industry has been focused on engineering concepts for geosynchronous communications satellites and related trivia, and unfortunately the technical texts have followed in the spirit of this singularly uninspiring application. This book manages to inform as well as inspire the modern space systems engineer that the dream of manned spaceflight is still alive. My compliments to Dr. Larson, and all involved in the production of this magnificent publication!
