Summary: Challenging book
Comment: Good book, tough problems.
The chapters themselves are very well written and provide good example problems to help illustrate the various techniques. The problem that I have with this book is the difficulty level of the excersises in the back of each chapter. They are, I think, a bit too challenging for the typical student.
Don't get me wrong: of course there should be some difficult problems to challenge us. But there should also be some easy ones along with a few of middling difficulty. This book, though, pretty much slams you with some very tricky stuff right away.
I highly recommend using one of the Schaum's outlines (Basic Circuit Analysis) to supplement this book. They seem to provide a more gradual approach to learning the material--giving you tons of practice problems to drive the point home.
Overall, a good book. But maybe a few "confidence builders" to start each problem set would improve things a bit.
Rating: 4
Summary: Complete, Concise, Conceptual, Mathematical.
Comment: This is the best book on linear circuit analysis. It teaches upto the advanced level. Writer has a wonderful style of presentating a topic.
The book is well structured. There are a number of helpful solved examples. Every section ends at atleast one example. There are also practice questions at the end of each section(if possible). Author has put challenging problems at the end of each chapter. The book is written in a technical way.
The book is full of knowledge.
I strongly recommend this book to those who are interested in this subject.
The reason of giving 4 stars is that if you are new to ciruit analysis then you may have some trouble understanding the fundamentals. Moreover, if you are weak in Calculus(esp. Differential calculus), you may find yourself under hot water. But as I have already taken a course on advanced calculus(the book does not require it - atleast you should know a little about differential calculus), I like this book.
For the above reasons I suggest you buy "Introductory Circuit Analysis" by "Robert L. Boylestad". This is a very very nice work by Mr. Boylestad. After reading Boylestad's book one should go for Hayt's "Engineering Circuit Analysis" for the sake of completeness.
Hayt explained the concepts using mathematical proofs while Boylestad explained mostly by physical analysis of elements.

Summary: PREFERABLE ONE BUT NOT GIVEN ALL ANSWERS TO VERIFY
Comment: This is a book featuring a good explanation both mathematical as well as physical. One of the better books in the field of circuit analysis. But there are no answers for even numbered problems which is the main problem with it.The exercise problems are challenging though it is the essential in creating interest. But I've found that the terminology used is ANTI-ENGINEERING LANGUAGE.I've got 80%satisfaction. Meet you later..Byaeee
