Summary: A very handy desk reference.
Comment: I'm giving this a 9 simply because I only skimmed through it a bit before I gave it to my cousin as a gift. Many years ago when I had English Comp, we were given Diana Hacker's "A Writer's Reference." This was a great book, but now I've misplaced it and it's out of print. This book, "The College Writer's Reference," is an excellent substitute, covering fine points on grammar, punctuation, research, style, etc. I simply refuse to get a writer's reference book that doesn't have easy- and quick-to-use tabs separating each section, and this book's got it all. If you write, whether it be formal or informal, get this book.
