Summary: Good Upgrade Text
Comment: I own a previous edition of BTLS for Advanced Providers. This text is a nice upgrade. There is a lot of information in the text considering that it is a 2 day course.
There are some agencies that are using the advanced text for their basic courses as well as the advanced. This text is very readable for somebody who may be a First Responder or EMT-B. Keep in mind that as good as this text is, it is a basic overview of trauma life support (hense the name basic). There are portions of the book that offer a very general introduction to advanced topics such as needle cricothyrotomy and adult IO infusion.
I like the new text because the pictures make learning easier. I am a strong believer that in medical training, the pictures can make or break a text. This text combines great artwork with helpful photography. It's better to see bad pictures then get surprised in the field.
The CD that comes with the text is very helpful. There are videos of some basic procedures as well as other interactives tools that enhance the text. I'd recommend this book to anybody getting into paramedicine or into any type of prehospital care.
