Summary: A book well worth reading
Comment: Though I agree with the reviewers who say this book starts out slowly, it packs quite a punch. In part, for me, the punch was that I have been to Andersonville, in fact, I bought my copy at the Gift Shop there. I went to several Civil War battlefields this summer, Andersonville was different, more like a concentration camp. It's been a long time since I read every war book I could find, but I was glad I bought and read this one. Ranny's story is at once general and specific, innocent and world-weary, like him.

Summary: THE BEST BOOK, FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comment: I LOVE the book Red Cap by G. Clifton Wisler. The characters are so believable and I admire Red Cap so much because I am 13 also and I could never survive if I had to live without food for lots of days and see my friend die right before my eyes. I could never have the courage that R.J. had and I admire him for it. This is a fantastic reference to the Civil War and a great book for you to read.

Summary: I, Frankie, Really Liked this Book
Comment: The story, Red Cap, is about a boy who joins the Union army at 13 and becomes a drumer boy in Company I. He ends up being captured by some of Bob Lee's guys.In the end,he goes home and gets a lot of money for what he had been through, plus they paid him a dollar an hour for being captured and telling the Rebs nothing. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes war books, especially Civil War books. This book has a lot of good things about it goes boring, then its awsome! It makes you guess what's going to happen next. This book has a good ending and a good beginning the beginning is just like the ending. In the beginning 'RedCap' is on a farm at home and in the end he is back on a farm at home
