Summary: A book to delight both the young and old ...
Comment: Ring Out Wild Bells is beautifully illustrated anthology of poetry. The illustrations are warm and detailed (done in both color and black and white) and the poetry is powerful. It's a delightful book to share with children and adults alike. The book is designed chronologically so that page-by-page just about every holiday is celebrated. There are a plethora of holiday poems to choose from. Sprinkled among these holiday poems are poems about the change of seasons, one's own birthday, the first and last day of school, wild geese flying south, and there is even a poem celebrating turning back the clock in winter and turning the clock ahead in spring. With famous authors such as Langston Hughes, e. e. cummings, Carl Sandburg, Robert Frost, Tennyson, and Martin Luther - just to name a few - how can one go wrong by introducing this book to their children? Finally, the illustrations will intrigue any child as well as pique their imagination. It's a wonderful book that any elementary school teacher should have on their bookshelf.
