Summary: Eureka!
Comment: This is a well-written and comprehensive quick reference manual about a great web graphics program. As much as WHAT is in here, I was impressed with HOW it is all organised and presented. It's clear, logical and very good-looking (the author even invented a special font for the printing!) There are so many features within Fireworks, that it's easy to get lost amongst the settings and menus. Sandee Cohen shows the way. She has real empathy with new user and upgrader alike - at times I thought she was reading my mind! Until I bought this book I was struggling to discover where everything was, and what everything did. Apart from increasing my awareness of and enjoyment from using Fireworks 2, Sandee has helped to improve the productivity of our little company. I'm grateful for being spared the long learning curve at a time when we are really busy. Incidentally, she has a cat called Pixel! Excellent name. Excellent book.

Summary: Could not use Fireworks without this book
Comment: Macromedia Fireworks is not an easy program to write a manual for. For example, its palettes are not labeled, many buttons are not labeled, and so forth. You have to click around to discover what functions certain screen artifacts serve. Given that, I respect anyone who can write a decent manual for it.
I do *not* respect the documentation that shipped with the product. I simply could not accomplish anything in a short time by trying to use either the printed manuals or online help (which is *really* bad). In fact, I was resigned to the fact that Fireworks was not going to be useful for me.
Fortunately, my wife had a copy of this book (and I have bought another copy too). After I followed some of its instructions, I actually began using Fireworks for a lot of my web graphics tasks. Had it not been for Sandee's book, I would have given up on Fireworks and gone back to using other software products.

Summary: Great Book for the Unenlightened
Comment: When I purchased this book, I didn't know a thing about Fireworks. I spent a few days digesting the material and I was off and running. I considered this book to be worth much more than the $$$ I paid. It taught me just what I needed to know to develop a strong "comfort zone" and begin producing quality web AND print graphics.
