Summary: A excellent primer on particle physics!
Comment: A very good book describing the search for fundamental particles and a theory to unify the four known forces (gravitational, electromagnetic, weak and strong). Dr. Kane takes a philisopical approach at times, such as when he describes the three different ways in which we "understand" things. He provides an adequate history of particle physics but does not dwell on it, instead focusing on progress made to date. I found the book very enjoyable to read.

Comment: This book is a great book for all of us who know nothing about particle physics. With this book you can go from no knoledge to a working understanding of particles. It also makes you think differently about the world around us. This is definately one of the better books that I have ever read

Summary: Boring
Comment: I've read several popular physics books, and I think this one was the worst. I hoped the followup "Supersymmetry" would be better. I think I made it through the first chapter before putting it down for good. Try Elegant Universe or one of Stephen Hawking's books instead.
