Comment: I bought this book because I'm interested in mostly Master's programs and Graduate Study in Psychology's coverage of programs is too prolific, including every single program out there. I thought this book would be a good cross-reference of only Master's programs. I also hoped for a little bit of helpful information about applying to programs, or what to expect from a Master's psych program in general. None of this was available. The book includes a short glossary of terms and the rest of the book's pages are dedicated to the programs. However, much space is wasted (pages are 50% blank!) because the information given for each program is quite sparse. Most of the information given, while important, is only marginally useful, such as contact addresses, phone numbers, and emails, as well as application deadlines and website addresses. Most of this information is readily available for free online or from the school directly, and I wouldn't trust time-sensitive info from a book that is not updated annually. The book is also missing several programs. I was shocked to notice in Grad Study that Yale has a General Master's in psych when there is no such listing in this guide.
The only valuable stuff here is some additional admission statistics and a note of whether the program has an applied or research orientation. And even this information could be obtained elsewhere. As I said, I wanted to use it as an easy cross-reference to Master's programs without having to sift through PhD programs as well. But my advice is to continue sifting through programs in Grad Study from the APA. Use the Allyn & Bacon for backup or quick reference, but not for heavy-duty info.
