Summary: A great anthology.
Comment: The comments about Mr. Mehta's book in this page are undeserved and truly reflect poor understanding of good writing. The pieces included in The Craft of The Essay are outstanding in content and exceptional in style. Any person that approaches them with attention will be rewarded with an enriching experience. To put it in Mr. Mehta's own words - taken from his introduction to this volume - these essays exude clarity, harmony, truth and unfailing courtesy to the reader. If you want to read flashy, easy, fast-food-like essays, you would be mistaken to get this work. If, on the other hand, you enjoy a fine, well-crafted and well-argued collection, this is the book you want to buy.

Comment: This book is a prime example of how marketing can sell a collection of rehashed reminiscences by a writer who is most definitely not a master prose stylist. Don't bother with this book!
