Summary: All pups should come with this instruction manual!
Comment: We have always had reasonably well behaved dogs throughout the years, but only after fairly stressful puppy months! Puppy Preschool presents a logical, simplistic approach to "connecting" with your dog. It's the closest thing to a "Dog/Human, Human/Dog" dictionary that you'll find. When we uttered our first "Nhaaa!!!", our pup stopped dead in her tracks, whipped her head around, as if to say, "Did my mother tell you to say that?" LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!

Summary: Even better the second time!
Comment: I read this book before we adopted our first puppy over a year ago. We just brought home our second puppy, and I am re-reading this book. Having surviived puppyhood once, this book makes even more sense this time. This book explains how dogs learn, allowing the dog owner to communicate in the dog's language. This book is a must for anyone considering a puppy.

Summary: This is a GREAT Puppy Book!
Comment: I love this book. I used it when I got my four-month-old shepherd-mix, and the "nhaa" thing really does work! I found this book talked more about imitating the puppy's mother's behavior than some other books I've read. I also loved this author's informal style.

I know some people disagree with the "10 Problem Breeds," but the author isn't saying that you should never get any of those breeds. He's just warning potential puppy owners so they don't bring an extremely energetic Aussie or Dalmation into an apartment, or get an Old English Sheepdog when they have very little time to spend with the dog.

This book is very detailed (but not ridiculously detailed) and I recommend it to anyone.
