Comment: The Dog Prince is a wonderfully entertaining story with deeply textured illustrations. The story of a vain Prince who is taught humility and purpose is an old concept; Lauren A. Mills breathes new life into the situation with a sly sense of humor. All in all, a delightful tale with a worthwhile message.

Summary: The Dog Prince
Comment: Lauren Mills and Dennis Nolan's The Dog Prince, an inspiring fairy tale, shows that there is good in everyone. The Prince, caught up with himself, incites the ire of a fairy, who casts a spell on him, turning him into a bloodhound. This makes him depressed and sad, until a goat girl finds him. Eliza, the goat girl, takes the Prince home and teaches him trust, love, and loyalty. He then saves the goats one night, which leads Eliza to kiss him on the head, in turn breaking the spell. The bloodhound turns back into the Prince, he proposes to Eliza, and they get married.
This is a refreshing fairy tale with beautiful pictures that portray the setting and characters with much detail, while the colors are very mute. The faces of the characters in the book look realistic, which help in relating to the story. This book makes the reader want to keep reading to find out what happens next to the Prince. The Dog Prince is an inspirational fairy tale and a pleasure to read....
