Summary: Unbelievably easy
Comment: I had been fumbling on my own with Flash not wanting to spend the money on a book that probably wouldn't help me much anyway. I finally broke down and after looking through all of the Flash titles decided on Yeung's Hands-On. To my surprise it made Flash extremely easy and is very well written to take a beginner progressively and coherently through the steps to learning Flash. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning serious web design with Flash.

Summary: Great Visuals, Easy to Read
Comment: I currently purchased this book for a college animation class. I admit that this is one of the best text books I've bought. Lots of great visuals and lots of information. What I like the most about it is that it covers everything in a simple way. It's not dumbed-down. Its not a text dominant learning manual. Its just very easy to follow and makes learning Flash easy. I picked it up and used it as a refrence. Within 3 days I was making an animation. Highly recommended.

Summary: great intro
Comment: I'm a professional software developer, and I have little patience for most programming books and classes. I recently decided to learn Flash, and decided to try this book based on the "hands on" exercises. I'm completely satisfied! The descriptions and overviews are clear and well written, and the step by step exercises walk you through the important tools and techniques. I skipped a few exercises that seemed redundant, but others may want the additional reinforcement.
There's a LOT to Flash, and an intro book can't possibly cover it all. I'm already forgetting a few things from the first exercises. But based on this book, I now feel comfortable and competent to develop basic Flash animations and interactive files, and to explore further on my own.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn Flash.
