Summary: Wonderful debut by new HH author.
Comment: Cordelia has done what no other white woman has ever done: she survived through a winter alone in the Rocky Mountains. When she is found in the spring by Flathead Indians, they take her to a trapper so he can keep her or return her to her people.
Thomas Nash has run away from his past into the mountains after a tragedy took his young wife. Living alone, trapping, and not being responsible for another human being is all Nash wants to do, not nursemaid a woman. He agrees to keep her until fall when he travels down the mountain to sell his furs. But between spring and fall a lot can happen to change this mountain man. Delia delights and surprises this hard-hearted man until he doesn't want her to ever leave his side.
WINTER WOMAN is Jenna Kernan's debut book, and if this book is what readers have to go by, then we have some wonderful adventures in store with this author. I enjoyed Delia as she talked Nash's ears off, following behind him like a shadow, learning everything she could so he wouldn't leave her behind. I am keeping my fingers cross that Ms. Kernan already has her second book in the works. If you love frontier romance, then this is the perfect afternoon read.
