Summary: the worst of all
Comment: tests and its way of grading are ... I don't know how to express
Sorry
Rating: 2
Summary: Great essay templates
Comment: This book is filled with "short cut" type strategies that are alleged to aid in determining the right answers to questions without knowing how to actually do the math or define the word. After having taken the real GRE, I must confess that ETS is well aware of these strategies and has taken steps to short cut the "short cuts." In other words, you cannot do well on the GRE verbal or quantitative without knowing basic math and having a superflous vocabulary. In addition, the practice questions are far too easy and are no where near representative of GRE caliber questions, as previous reviewers have stated. And the four practice exams that are advertised on the cover of the book require additional fees....
The workbook does offer solid advice on tackling the written analytic section. The templates the book provides are invaluable guides for staying on track and beating the clock.
The Powerprep software that ETS provides is by far the best prep tool. Use this book as a secondary source for strategy but not as the last word!

Summary: Quant and verbal are too easy
Comment: I got this especially because I wanted to practice on the computer (I don't run windows so PowerPrep is useless). While as another reviewer said, the writing section is fairly helpful, the quant and verbal portions are not representative of the real test. If you are a middle of the road test taker then you may benefit from the easier examples. I was a physics major and was aiming for a perfect on the quant. so I specifically wanted to practice time usage and using the computer format. I frequently scored high if not perfect with time remaining on the quant section in the online companion tools. I found almost always that algebra was the fastest way to solve their problems. When I took the gre today I found that the actual quant (and verbal) sections had very different questions and I found myself running out of time on each section since I worked slower on the initial questions (worth more) as when I practiced to make sure I got them right. I scored 780 quant. 650 verbal and would say too anyone that is trying to get a top or perfect score that this book will leave you feeling confident only to discover you didn't prepare effectively. Not a disappointment exactly, just not worth the money.
