Summary: The Barn
Comment: It's about a boy named Ben that lives on a farm, but he is at a privite school when his dad gets a disease. He has to go back to the farm and help his brother Harrison and his sister Nettie take care of their dad. Ben thinks that theres only one thing that will cure his dad's disease. If he does it he thinks it will help his dad regain health.
My opinion about the book was I didn't like the book because it didn't explain about what is going on at his house or what is going on with his family. I liked it because it had a good story line and it had Ben trying and trying to helphis dad with his disease and he really believes that he can cure his dad.

Summary: The Very Best
Comment: I totally loved this book! I am a 12 year old girl, and I had to do a book report on a book, so I picked up this book. I thought it would be extreamly boring, but since I've finished reading it, I LOVE it! I especially love the ending!!! It is officially THE VERY BEST!

Summary: A must read!
Comment: "Pa, did you get that log on the wagon? Pa, Pa where are you? PA!" Pa was out getting a log for a barn he planned to build. When Ben found he didn't come for supper that night, ma sent him out to look for him. When he found him he looked dead but he groaned my name and told me to build the barn he had been planing' for that will make him better.
The doctor said he had strained something that could possibly get worse. There wasn't much hope in Pa's survival but the children set to work to build their father's barn.
After I read the barn I was amazed at how Avi made it so realistic giving all the details. It made me fell like I was there. I would recommend this book to people who like the main character fighting for something they believe in. I enjoyed reading this book.
