Summary: a little too good to be true but....
Comment: I really enjoyed reading this book. This was my first Catherine Anderson book and won't be the last. It's a story of how two strangers meet and help one another. It's a little too over the top in some ways, the dirty cowboy bum riding the trains around who happens to be a millioniare! But when I read I want to escape to places and with people who are a little over the top. That's the great part about losing yourself in a good book!! Maggie character was so clear, Anderson describes her and her background that you feel you know her and what she has been through. One of the strongest charcater I have read. Although I haven't been into the whole cowboy/romanace thing, I found this book to be surprisingly good and a fast read!! I would recommend this book highly, but it is a little too good to be true!!

Summary: Good, except for the usual too-good-to-be-true stuff
Comment: This novel is the first of a 3-part series (Phantom Waltz & Sweet Nothings are the other two). It's pretty good, but if you've read a lot of Catherine Anderson, you'll note that her M.O. is all over this. That's either good or bad, depending on your viewpoint. Anderson always gives us an interesting plot, with just enough twists to make the romance interesting without pretending to be anything other than a romance. And, as usual, we get the too-good-to-be-true hero who falls hard for the heroine who is either imperfect or is in an imperfect situation. I know that all romance novels have heroes that are really fairy tale heroes, but Anderson's heroes even go beyond the usual. This, to me, is a drawback.

In this novel, Rafe (the hero) falls almost instantly in love with Maggie (the heroine) and her son. He falls so hard that he gives up his hobo existence and his drinking to help them. Lo and behold: he happens to be a multi-millionaire. Oh, and by the way, he's also gorgeous, kind, patient, etc., etc., etc.
He asks Maggie to marry him to help her out of her bad situation. Here's the part that annoys me: Maggie starts to become annoyed at the attention she's receiving from Rafe & others in his family. So readers are supposed to understand when a sick, homeless, destitute, single mother running from her psycho stepfather gets annoyed at the gorgeous, kind, patient, multi-millionaire who volunteers to save her???? Get real! Anderson does this in all her novels. Although I like the fact that her heroines have interesting personalities, it gets on my nerves that they never seem to appreciate being helped by the hero. This is completely unrealistic even for a romance novel.

That's the major problem with this novel. If you can live with that, you might find it interesting.

Summary: Great plot, poor conversation!
Comment: I gound baby love is a great read. It is just a little dissapointing that Ms Anderson deliver a "too funny" conversation between the two subjects. I reckogn if i were put in Maggie situation, i would not too appreciate a person who talked me into a joke and still shine as a charming prince. And I don't believe Rafe could be so easily fall head over heals in love with a woman who apperently rejected and hurted him from the very beginning and still try to keep nonchallant appearance by delevering joke around her. Somehow i like the plot, but i don't think the whole situation are spoken with eagerness... it tends to be boring somewhere between pages (maybe the story doesn't ring to be real-er?).
