Summary: Enjoyable...if you're a fan to begin with
Comment: I enjoyed this chapter in the series much more than the second book. Dane's team is lead deeper into this mystery where a war unlike any he (or we-the reader) has ever seen is inevitable. Donegan (Doherty, Mayer, etc...) is very capable of weaving various plots both in our current time, as well as in the past to produce an exciting read, however once again, the author leaves so many questions at the end of the book that it's very frustrating to not receive any closure. Don't worry Greg (Bob, Robert, etc...), I will buy the next book in the series, so stop doing this to me! Overall fast paced, and very well worth the time if you have the time to kill.

Summary: A completely enjoyable jaunt
Comment: I am reading the series and just finished this one (#3) last night--in one sitting! Not that it is short at 295 pages, but that it is so captivating it's hard to put it down.

Is it farfetched--yes, but the presentation is such that I found myself accepting the story line and even found it plausible...now that is good writing! To those who have written in their reviews that some elements of fantasy have been added to a science fiction/action story, well, let's remember that this is fiction! It's purpose is to entertain. Judging by the success of this series, I'd say the author has accomplished that end very successfully!

The characterization is good for an action thriller. The story line is the strong point of this book. I found it impossible not to anticipate with enthusiasm every revelation about the nature of the gates, the shadow, and "the ones before."

Emily Dickenson once said, "What a frigate is a book!" I agree. A good book is like a mini-vacation. Devil's Sea was an especially exciting escape from the world, and I heartily recommend it! I now have it listed for sale in the used book Amazon Marketplace, so that someone else might enjoy it!

Summary: Not as good as the first two in the series, but I'm hooked!
Comment: Again, if you haven't read at least the first book (Atlantis) of this series, do not start with this one or you will only feel frustrated. I find the plot of this one a little repetitive of the second book (Bermuda Triangle) and it is especially obvious in the first half of the plot development. Now we know that the "Shadow" had always been there but in every generation there were some people who could defeat it. The story does get better towards the end with some new twists. It seems like the author was saving those "special effects" for later and then found himself running out of time so he had to use them up all at once. Oh well, I'm hooked on this series nonetheless and I will definitely read the 4th one. I want to know who are the "Ones Before" on the other side!
