Summary: Trump: The Storyteller
Comment: This book was recommended to me at the start of the inaugural season of "The Apprentice" -- Trump's reality TV Show. "It's one of the most inspirational business books I've ever read," he said. Personally, I found it more entertaining than inspirational.
It is a quick read, offering glimpses into The Donald's life in the 80's. These tales included some of his most successful real estate deals told in the first person from Donald's (somewhat biased) point-of-view. I kept wishing there was an alternate account of some of these tales to get more of a balanced view. And, after finishing the book, I also found myself longing for a similarly-executed book detailing his successes (and failures) in the 90's.
But despite some of its biases and lack of business or even "deal-making" tips (as its title might suggest), I think it would make a terrific gift for fans of Donald Trump and "The Apprentice" as well as for the entrepreneurially-minded. And I would strongly recommend it -- just not as part of a business course curriculum!

Summary: Million Dollars Deal Making
Comment: If you can get past the unabashed self promotions, this is probably the best book by Donald Trump.
It sheds the most insights into his deal making skills and mindset.
If you are a real estate investor and have read a lot of real estate investments books, you will recognize that many techniques that are taught in real estate investment books and guru's seminars are present in his deal making. The difference is that the other books you read are dealing with a house or an apartment and his deals are hundreds of millions of dollar deals.
His deal making rules are simple, yet insightful. Try this rule: Protect your Down sides and the Upsides will take care of themselves. How many people actually follow that? Most beginner Real Estate Investors go out, load up a ton of debt, and buy houses without thinking about any down sides. In this book, you'll see that Trump is actually quite a cautious and very patient guy...and he is somehow geniusly able to get his capital back in some cases that makes it into those infamous "no money down" deals that gurus are always so proud of pointing out. Like i had mentioned earlier...the only difference is that this is a no money down MILLION dollars deal! I think a lot of us DREAM of doing one like that, Trump shows you how he actually DID it.
This book may be a little out of date...but it does show the reader a glimpse of what it means and takes to dream big.

Summary: Big Impact
Comment: I read this book a few years ago. The number one thing about this book is how it makes you realize your dreams are not as far out of your reach as you think. At many points in Donald Trumps life he had to overcome obstacles that would have made a normal man give up. This book shows a person how to fight through the hard and rocky road of BIG PROJECTS. It is written in easy to understand and follow laymen's terms. Like I said, it's been a few years since I read it, but I remember it to be a very inspirational read.
