Summary: A must for anyone interested in gardening or history!
Comment: To truly understand something you have to dig into its past. An Illustrated History of Gardening gives gardeners a glimpse into how gardens have impacted civilization and how little of our art is new. When in the garden I have a better connection with those who came before me. Lots of historical illustrations, great for anyone creating a period garden. Also discusses the tools of the gardener, most of my most dependable tools have been designed by ancient civilizations. Also gives ground to what all gardeners know, gardening is essential to civilization.
