Summary: Disappointed
Comment: Ok, I know most people will roll their eyes: "You're criticizing a Judith Gould book for being trite?" Well, yes, I am. And I have a streak in my character that simply loves some of her books, even though the rest of me knows better. This isn't one of them, though. Her normally resourceful and (sigh) plucky heroines are here reduced either to dishrags, (...) or wild temptresses--shallow in all cases. The hero has raven-black hair (which is repeated about fifty million times) a washboard stomach, a throbbing member, and all the charm and personality of a Faberge egg. There's a lot of stupid dialogue and stupid time-jumps, several stupid scenes that establish stupid things we don't need, and a really stupid attempt at a red herring which any halfway intelligent reader will figure out right away, but which gets carried right through to the bitter end. Even the standard Gould stuff--what people are eating and wearing, the rich decor and overdone (...) scenes, which are normally a good enough reason to give her books a try--is curiously flat and boring here. I'm returning it tomrrow, and I want my money back, along with the 3 hours it took to read it.

Summary: Purely Intriguing
Comment: Rhapsody, by Judith Gould is an excellent novel to read. Judith Gould starts the book in the present and then takes you back to the past in Russia when communism was a prevalent form of government there. If you are looking for a book that you can get into very fast, experience different parts of the world with and a book that has a great romantic story, then this is the book for you!
