Rating: 1
Summary: A beautiful mess
Comment: While this book does have it's good points You need a reference book to get anything of use from it. My professor disliked it so much that we switched text. And occasionally did problems from Froment so he could justify assigning the text for graduate kinetics.
Rating: 5
Summary: The best and most advanced book on reaction engineering
Comment: This book is very comprehensive and advanced level. It is the only book you will ever need on reaction engineering. It thoroughly explains chemical kinetics and steady-state and transient reactor operation. It suited both for undergraduate and graduate students, although the graduate student will grasp the subtleties of reactor modeling better. It is extensively referenced with relevant scientific literature and contains ample current research on the topic. In comparison, Fogler's book will not serve you beyond your initial reaction engineering course and serves strictly undergraduate food.
Rating: 5
Summary: Excellent reference book, good textbook for graduate course
Comment: This book presents an excellent amount of high quality information, it is the best reference book I have found for chemical reactor analysis and design. Using it as a textbook in Master or Ph.D. level courses must be accompanied by good lectures, I used it when I took the graduate course in 1995, our professor did very good lectures, and that was more than enough to learn a lot and enjoy the topic. When comparing this book with Fogler's we have to step down to another level of analysis, Fogler's book is the equivalent book for undergraduate level courses, it is a good reference for basis and step by step learning, and for understanding the number crunching.
