Summary: Lisa Atwood comes to ride...
Comment: When Lisa Atwood's mother decides that she should she shoulod ride at Pine Hollow Stables, Lisa doesn't like the idea. On her first lesson there she finds some strange things at the stable. Carole Hanson, who is totally disorginized at school, is the best rider there and doesn't put a hoof pick out of place. And someone slams the door on her first lesson and the horse spooks. Carole watched the lesson and sees that Lisa is a natural rider. Then Lisa meets Stevie lake, Carole's best friend. Stevie's about to be bann from a wonderful Pine Hollow trip, the MTO (Mountain Trail Overnight) unless she improves her math grade. Stevie plays a prank on Lisa, causing the girl's mind to lead her to the fact that Stvie slammed the door. But Stevie didn't do it. Lisa wants to be Carole's friend but doesn't want to be friends with Stevie. So she starts hanging out with Veronica diAngelo, the stable snob and the one who actually did slam the door on Lisa. Pretty soon Stevie's desperate for help, Lisa's hating Veronica, and Carole's stuck in the middle, trying to help them both. Then they each get a little help from a very surprising sorce.

Summary: Can't cure the horse crazy but can delay it a bit
Comment: I read this series as a horse crazy child. I bought every book in the series up to the purchase of my first horse, an Arabian. However horses are always better as the real thing. Good book to buy if you child is horse crazy but won't keep her from wanting a reall horse some day!

Summary: Good, but these are better
Comment: I liked this book, but the others are better. So are Horses By Email and Thoroughbred. Also, the Bonnie books. The problem I had with the first Saddle Club book was how dumb the kids are. This book talks down to kids instead of to us.
