Summary: The redeemer of the Star Wars books
Comment: This book was truly amazing. It was beautifully written and portrayed the Empire as more than the one sided villain it has so easily become in the other books. It also shows Luke as less than perfect - something that pleased me no end, because I have always felt uncomfortable with his 'I can do no wrong, and falling to the dark side will never affect me again' status.

I also thought that the Mara/Luke relationship was dealt with well - it was a great plot twist at the end, but Zahn had so carefully laid the background that it was utterly believable. I also liked the suddeness of it, it made a difference from the slow saga of the Callista books (Children of the Jedi, Darksaber, Planet of Twilight).

I also feel compelled to point out what a stunning character Mara Jade is. She beats Callista any day (who although I enjoyed her, was obviously created specifically to be Luke's girl...if you ask me the fact that Mara wasn't only that plotline better!)

It's an amazing book. Read it. Zahn has managed to redeem my faith that truly amazing SW books can be written. Ones which deal with the flaws in the good guys and the redeeming features of the bad ones...books that go beyond a new superweapon appearing in every new Trilogy, and the ageing super heroes going off to save the day. This book rocks!

Summary: The best book since the original three.
Comment: Vision of the Future is by far the best Star Wars book since the original three books and movies. I have every Star Wars book available and I am a major fan.Timothy Zahn really captured the real feeling of the movies, I couldn't put the book down. I am oh so extremly annoyed with you amature Star Wars fans out there who read the books and then you criticize because you don't like whats going on. Too bad so sad. Whats wrong with Luke and Mara getting together? Any good Star Wars fan knows that Mara jis perfect for Luke, she is his other half, even is she is his perhaps his darker half. They're both strong in the force and strong willed. When the Empire Strikes Back came out some people thought that Leia sholud have been with Luke instead of Han. What a mistake that would have been. Callista was a wimp who left Luke because she was jealous that he could feel the force and she couldn't. I'm glad she's gone! I have been waiting for Luke and Mara to get together for a long time, and I'm so glad they finally did. I know that in the YJK and JJK stories they aren't together, but she hasn't really been mentioned yet either. They can always bring her back later. I also seriously doubt that this is the end of the series, they are so many other stories to tell, we know for a fact that Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando, and Luke are all still alive when Jaina and Jacen are sixteen and that Luke isn't sad or haunted about Mara's death. Also, what about the vision Luke had about seeing Leia's children grown up and fighting a new threat. They'll definatly have more books.

Summary: great enhancement to the universe [no spoilers]
Comment: "Vision of the Future" is the final second novel in The Hand of Thrawn series approximately ten years following The Thrawn Trilogy. It concludes the story in the tradition of creativity and intrigue from the prior novels.

Although the preceding novel has more political developments dominating the storyline, this book returns to creative battles and stunning revelations. The Mara Jade and Luke Skywalker duo along with Major Tierce and Admiral Pellaeon sections of the storyline are interesting. In addition, the use of High Councilor Leia Organa Solo's Jedi skill is exciting.

I was aggravated when I calculated New Republic characters heading in four different directions searching for the same thing without consulting each other. Considering the closeness of the group such behavior is peculiar. A couple loose ends are available for future stories whereas one piece of information regarding Grand Admiral Thrawn could have been left alone to leave a greater mystery.

I recommend this series to any fan of the Star Wars universe.

Thank you.
