Summary: Coolest X-wing book (yet)!!!!!!!!!
Comment: This is the coolest X-wing book. I like this better than the original X-wing Rogue Squadron Series because with the Rogues, though some characters died, the ones that got focused on the most lived. Some characters didn't get focused on at all. And,also, in the original Rogue Squadron Series, it was kind of obvious who was gonna die, and who was the spy. I mean, I haven't read every Star Wars novel, but in "Wedge's Gamble", I just got a gut feeling that it was Erisi Dlarit. Also, it was obvious the traitor wasn't Tycho Celchu. With the Wraith Squadron Series, however, Mr. Allston focuses on all of the characters more or less equally. You have NO inkling of whose gonna die, except when you're like 1/2 a page away. And one good thing... the authors always include a roster of characters, so you can look them up if you're wondering their rank, what species they are, and where they're from. One bad thing though... in "Wraith Squadron", under the New Republic Military, Mr. Allston forgot to list Admiral Ackbar!

Summary: The series gets great...
Comment: The first four books of the X-wing series were definitely good, and I enjoyed reading them, but there was undeniably something missing from the characters; which seemed just a bit to clichiey and wooden, and the action sequences; there was simply too many of them! This book made it all worthwhile! Rather than chapter upon chapter of nothing but fight scenes, the author balances the action with the characters perfectly. At first I thought it would be impossible to adjust to a whole new cast of characters after just getting used to the others, but the author got past this potential awkwardness almost flawlessly, and I quickly found myself drawn to each of the Wraiths, as much or more, than I was to the Rogues. Anyway, after years of Commanding Rogue Squadron, the most elite group of X-wing pilots in the New Republic, Commander Wedge Antilles is given a daunting assignment by Admiral Ackbar: turn a talanted band of mis-fits and screw-ups into a formidable fighting force, or be forced to accept a General's commision he doesn't want. He needs to turn this group into a new, but less visable elite squadron, Wraith Squadron. His new soldiers include (of all things) a brilliant Gamorrean, a giant, a former child actor, a bothan, and plenty of other wonderfully strange (and lovable) characters. So, I'd definitely say this is the best one yet, and I simply can't wait to get to the next one! The thing with Kell and Tyria was cute, and I was rooting for them to get together, but it would have been much better if they'd waited until book six or seven, or even the very end of this one, to actually get them together. Sticking it in the middle like that not only makes no sense, but also makes both of them seem a bit...easy. Anyway, this book was great and I recomend it to all Star Wars fans, especially those who've been following the series.

Summary: The Next Generation of X-Wing pilots!
Comment: Wraith Squadron was the first Star Wars book written by Aaron Allston and the first to feature an all new X-Wing squadron. Featuring a more focussed role on Wedge Anitlles, Wraith Squadron picks up right where the Bacta War left off. Instead of searching for elite pilots, Antilles wants a bunch of already trained screw ups to fight under his command. From a failed Jedi to a mechanic who gets stage fright to a former child star, these characters are both unique and hysterical. Wraith Squadron is among the freshest of the Star Wars books. The characters Phanan and Face make the book totally worth it. I recommend highly!
