Summary: Taking Patriotism Too Far
Comment: The second book in the trilogy (after "ProCon Conspiracy"), the "Pro Patria Project" is a story that seems too real to be imagined. In a nation that is often faced with duplicitous conduct by its public officials, this book makes the reader wonder where the facts end and fiction begins. Dissatisfied with what they perceive as declining moral and ethical values in the nation, a dozen wealthy and powerful people decide to take drastic action. They hire a team of mercenaries to methodically assassinate twelve of the most liberal, influential people in the country. Managed by General Mullaire, one of the corrupt participants in the ProCon Conspiracy, the Pro Patria (for one's country) Project strikes a familiar note. People with money and power can get away with anything. Ably assisted by Colonel West, another survivor of the ProCon Scandal, Mullaire relocates condemned inmates from a federal prison to do his dirty work. After exhaustive training and brain washing, the ex-inmates become trained assassins who carry out their dastardly deeds with blind obedience. Mullaire is double-crossed by his sponsors when the last victim is murdered, introducing yet another interesting twist to a spell-binding tale that Mitchell tells so well. This book is great entainment that will also make the reader think; perhaps even worry.
