Summary: Come Out
Comment: I was delighted that the Rev. Elvis Mitchell showed clearly the fruits of fundamentalism.."Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them". It somewhat amazed me that the Rev. chose to stay within the confines of such a structure that continually makes out ruthless injustices to whomsoever it pleases. For those claiming Scripture as their soul guide the Hebrew writers warned "Woe to the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture". In New Testament days there were those who "taught for doctrine the commandments of men". But "it is scripture that is profitable for doctrine, for reproof..and instruction in righteousness". "Study to shew thyself approved." Rev Mitchell calls us to take heed to the Revelator who seeing spiritual Jerusalem become a captive to incorporeal Babylon wrote, "Come out of her my people that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues". A very clear message and an easy read.

Summary: Reform Call
Comment: Rev. Elvis Mitchell review shows the depth of post-modern fundalmentalism in the individual. If Christianity is ever to be resurrected it shows it cannot be done from within institutional structures as many modern day reformers try. They know no other way. Those in exile are calling out to say that there is consistency in the wondrous humane works of Scripture but the mythical and superstitous interpretation that is taught requires sentient minds to blow away the myths of the past, the childish literalisms, the false masks of irreverent pastors and move forward to a real but ancient call to freedom. It was a long road from Egypt to Canaan and most wanted to turn back. Christianity has foresaken those in exile and our Christ is the anointed but antithetical to the Chirst of latter day Christianity. Let our minds and hearts awake to tomorrow. We have learnt from Rev. Mitchell that Christianity is dead. Let the ancient but new spiritualism arise.
