Summary: One of the Greatest Generation Speaks
Comment: A common soldier's tale is never common. Former Infantry Sergeant McLaughlin's book is a touching gift to his children which happily he decided to share with us. Although my combat experience was in Viet Nam, not WWII, I appreciate the understated dignity of this tale. I wish more of "the Greatest Generation" would record their impressions as McLaughlin has.

Comment: Robert J. McLaughlin writes the story like no one else. His quick thinking saved his life on more than once. Bob's distast for war is obvious and he comes to admire the Koreans and their lifestyle when they are liberated during the occupation.
A patriot through and through, I recommend this book for students and history buffs alike.
