Summary: Good Pictures, but....
Comment: I have purchased this calandar and really like it. There are pictures of each of the ten "regular" cast members (including both Jadzia and Ezri Dax) and the two primary "recurring" characters of Garak and Dukat. These pictures make up the tweleve months of the year. And in the center of the calandar, there is a picture of the Defiant in battle.

The cast pictures are very nice, with the possible exception of Julian Bashir - I think they could have found a better picture of him. With each picture is a quote from that character, and I think they picked pretty good quotes. Additionally, the Defiant picture is nice as well.

I'm not particularly crazy about the boxy look of the date boxes on the calandar...but I do like the fact that they put a notation on each DS9 cast members' birthday...kind of a nice touch.

I think the calandar is worth the money...especially if you are a DS9 fan!!

Summary: Very Nice
Comment: This DS9 calendar is actually very nice. The selection of photos is very good and there are some superb photos in the bunch. There's just a couple of little things that bother me. First, the colorful borders. I agree with other reviewers that the borders are rather...loud. Sometimes the color clashes with the colors in the photo. *But*... they do serve to draw your eye to the photo, all right. You can't miss it. Second, the photos are a bit small. If they had done the photos bigger and the border smaller, the bright colors would have been more tolerable. Lastly, I wasn't impressed with the print quality. On the photo of Kira, there are faint greenish streaks on her uniform, like their printer was running out of ink. Maybe it's just my copy, and fortunately it's barely noticeable. But, despite its shortcomings, this calendar has great photos and deserves 5 stars - and each photo is still going up on my wall as a poster. Pick this calendar up if you can!

Summary: Designed for the Aesthetic Sensibility of a Vorta
Comment: I bought the 2001 calendar sight unseen because I liked the 2000 Deep Space Nine calendar. I wish I had taken a look at it in a bookstore first!

On the plus side, the blocks for the individual days are larger and thus it will be easier to write notes in them.

Unfortunately, any pluses are greatly outweighed by one major negative: the obtrusive backgrounds. The muted gray-blue-black background theme of 2000 is replaced with garish colors which vary from page to page and which frequently clash with the colors in the photos. Additionally, the photo size was diminished this year, which renders the background even more annoying. There are some nice shots, but background colors and diminished size detract severely from all of them.

All in all, I recommend you preview before you purchase. It's a serviceable calendar, but not as pleasing to look at as last year's was.
