Summary: A Decendant Of Bram Stoker's DRACULA?
Comment: After reading this book, I noticed how close it really was the the 1897 novel DRACULA. 'Salem's Lot is invaded by a vampire named Barlow who, just like Dracula moved to another place with more people to feed on. Also like the Count, Barlow must have a person open the "doors" for him. That guy is Straker. (Wait look at this Straker.....Stoker....hey, maybe I'm right...)
These two guys come to 'Salem's Lot, and by a huge house.
Then it starts to happen. People are beginning to be vampirized. If my Dracula/Salem's Lot comparsion is correct, then the Glick boy is like Lucy, the 20-year-old in DRACULA.
But who really cares about DRACULA at this moment?
I don't know.
Anyway, this is King at his best, and I would suggest that anyone who likes horror fiction to read this.
I read Salem's Lot when I was 10, and I'm almost 12 now and the images of the vampires still stick in my mind.
Also, don't see the movie before you read the book. The movie is good, but the book is better. But for those of you who don't want to spend a couple of days reading about vampires, then Salem's Lot (the movie) should quench your horror needs.

Summary: One of King's most horrific!
Comment: I remember reading "'Salem's Lot" years ago. Every night, I'd finish reading half an hour before bedtime and hide the book under the couch cushions in the living room. Then I'd involve myself in another activity so that I wouldn't be thinking about it while lying alone in my dark bedroom. Sometimes my mom would find it and bring it to my room. The moonlight would shine through my windown on the cover as images of what I'd read would flash through my head. Perhaps that's why I didn't get much sleep as a kid....
In this book, Stephen King takes a small New England town with the expected gossip and scandals, and he adds the element of evil. His vampires aren't the comic book variety with black capes and long fangs, but are instead a sinister presense that's right before our eyes, yet unknown. Strangers in our midst that seem normal, yet why do we feel a slight chill when they pass?
"'Salem's Lot" is a story of evil, of vampires, and of the small town they invade. It will suck you in from the beginning and keep you lying awake at night.

Summary: A good bok
Comment: Stephen King's Salem's Lot, turned out to be a good book. This is the first Stephen King book that I have read and was a good book. When I first picked it up, I wasn't sure if I was going to like and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to read the whole book. But After the first pages the story starts to get more interesting. IF you just read the first pages, you would never know that this was a story about vampires. One thing that Stephen king did that made the book better was to bring in the vampires about half way through the book. After the vampires come in, you cannot put the book down.
The plot of this book gets developed pretty well. The book takes place in a small Town in Maine, Jerusalem's Lot. Setting the story here makes the book better than if it would have been set in a big city. If it were to be set in a big city, you know that the vampires are going to be stopped by some force. But in Jerusalem's Lot, the whole town gets turned into vampires. The way that Stephen king develops the plot is very good.
The main characters in this book get described pretty well. One of them is Ben Mears, he is the one that kills the main vampire. The other character is Barlow, he is the main vampire. The other characters in the book are town people. They don't get developed very good because they don't play a big role in the book. Overall Salem's Lot is a good book, and I liked reading it.
