Summary: A Fun Read!
Comment: In this second book of the series, Ms. Castle (aka Jayne Ann Krentz) introduces us to Zinnia Spring and Nick Chastain on earth colony St. Helen's. Here we learn about another Prism/Talent pair that track down the missing journal of a doomed exploration, lead by Nick's late father. Sparks between Zinnia and Nick burn bright when they join in their "link" and as their romance grows. The reader also will enjoy revisiting friends and places from the previous story.
If you're a fan of futuristic romance with a psychic twist, this book is for you! I've enjoyed all three books so far (the first: Amaryllis, the second: Zinnia, and the third: Orchid), and am looking forward to more!

Summary: Another keeper !!! :)
Comment: This is a "paranormal futuristic romance"... The name is quite long but explains well what this novel is about. It can be read as a sequel to "Amaryllis" or on its own. It takes place in the Earth colony of St. Helens, were people are divided between those with psychic powers (talents) and those who can help them to focus those powers, thus increasing them (prisms).
The main characters in this book are Nick Chastain, a powerful matrix talent and casino owner, and Zinnia Spring, a full spectrum prism. They meet because Zinnia thinks Nick kidnapped one of her clients,a stormy beginning for an exciting relationship. What follows is a mad chase for a missing journal, and a developing love story that keeps you enthralled...
I really loved this book, and consider it to be a real keeper !!!. I only regret it wasn't longer... If you have at least some imagination (a necessary ingredient in this kind of book, read it now: you won't regret doing so!!!

Summary: A little disappointed.
Comment: This is the author's second futuristic romance that takes place in the Earth colony of St. Helens, the same as in Amaryllis. There are heavy spoilers about Amaryllis in this book since the author mentions about important plotlines and gives away the villain in Amaryllis. Therefore, readers who have not read Amaryllis and intends to do so should not read Zinnia first.
the background:
In the distant Earth colony of St. Helens, the pioneer people from Earth that settled in the colony were stranded after the connection warp between Earth and the colony(also called "the curtain") disappeared almost 200 years ago. St. Helens was habitable but the materials from Earth quickly disintegrated. Earth's technology were also of no use. The settlers were forced to learn about the colony's natural materials and how to use them to produce everyday necessities...
the characters
Nick Chastain:
His father Bartholomew Chastain was a member of the high class. The Chastains owns some sort of company and is a respectable bunch. However, Nick's father died on an expedition without marrying Nick's mother before Nick was born. Therefore, Nick was born...and was frowned upon by the Chastains...
Zinnia Spring:
She is born from a high class family. However, her life started to come apart four years ago...
how they met:
Zinnia's client was missing. He is a rare book seller and was in the process of settling a deal with Nick. The book was supposed to be the journal of Nick's father recorded during his expedition and may have clues about his death...
overall comments:
I was a little disappointed with this book after the good experience with Amaryllis. The characters were not as well developed as Lucas and Amaryllis. I couldn't really feel their emotions and thinking while reading this book. The ending was a quick wrap up. The mystery was not explained clearly. The villain was revealed suddenly and was not very convincing. It was also so quick that Nick's relatives accepted him at the end. I really hope Orchid, the third of the St. Helen series, will be better.
