Summary: ONE OF THE BEST PIKE BOOKS!!!
Comment: This one one of my favorite Books bu Christopher Pike. The Plot is excellent and the story is so gripping that i couldn't put it down. It's all about a girl named Mary who goes into a pary and kills two people. She tries to kill more but gets arrested. When her friend Angela visits her in jail the next day, she says she killed them because they were no longer human. Angela eventually becomes friends with one of the people Mary tries to kill, but after a while strange things start to happen, and Angela investigates further into Mary's claim. Then she discovers whats really going on. It is a but gory so some people might not want to read it, but for the rest of you, I strongly recomned this!

Summary: Christopher Pike is awesome
Comment: I love his young adult books, they are well thought out and thought provoking. He tells a simple conchise story and ties up all of the loose ends perfectly. His female characters also kick ass,(yes he can actually convincingly write women). He doesn't get as mired in the plot as he does with his adult books, when is actually a terrible shame. Most of his stories are completely original, mini masterpieces that hide behind the young adult genre. I really think he deserves to be a lot more famous than he is.
This book is very well written. It includes all the good ingredients of a classic horror novel, freaky metamorphosis included. Sometimes, it borders on downright horrifying. The main characters, as they struggle with the basic aspects of humanity and their new hunger are realistically done. This book does hint at evil, but it also offers a motive.
This book is also sassy and proud and doesn't take itself overly seriously. At times, it is amusing in a sickening sort of way. One of the characters buys four pounds of meat at the supermarket and eats half of it raw in the car.
A couple other darkly amusing quotes are "He caught me trying to eat my dog, so what?" "Come on, you have to eat people, all the cool people are doing it".
It all starts when Angela's best friend, Mary bursts into a party and shoots the head cheerleader and one of the football players. Christopher Pike announces this happens in the course of about 6 seconds, so nobody has a chance to react. When she turns to shoot her boyfriend, Angela and a couple other people try to stop her and everyone else just runs out of the house.
Justice is finally extracted, at a price. The innocent get trampled and demolished. This book is not fair, and carries some of the most brutal killing scenes I have ever seen in any of his books. The pre-apocalyptic one was especially horrible, but this makes it stand out on it's own even more. It's a good story, it keeps you reading. I found the ending incredible, in a sad and beautiful kind of way.

Summary: not pikes best
Comment: I've always liked Christopher Pikes book. They were entertaining, and always had me gripped wanting more. So when I read the blurb for Monster , it sounded good. So i begin reading , and it gets of to a bad start. This girl, Mary Blanc comes in with a shotgun. Shoots a football player in the guts, then shoots a cheerleader straight in the face. And while this is going on nobody moves. I mean this mentally unbalanced teenaged girl comes in and shoots two people. What should you do :
Option A :- stand and stare

OR

Option B: Run screaming out the house like a lunatic.
Personally I'd choose option B but the kids in the book decide to stay and watch .Don't get me wrong the plot of the book isn't bad. It's just not written well. There is to much sexual detail . It bugs me that Angela decides to get together with Mary's boyfriend.Ok I know everyone thinks that Mary has snapped but that doesn't give Angela that right. To go off with him.In the end everyone dies , even Kevin dies .Angela ,Mary and Kevin were good fiends. I was depending on him to save the day. Angela turns into the alien vampire fully transformed. The only thing stopping her from killing and devouring humans is the chain, the old indian man gave her. I do not recommend this book it is a waste of your time . I feel really bad saying that because I really like christopher Pike books.
I'd recommend Witch, Die softly and chain letter they're excellent.
