Summary: Typographical clutter mars otherwise fine text
Comment: This book really does live up to its title, with word lists, puzzles, anecdotes, strategy hints, and information on league play. It's just unfortunate that the heavy hand of the Selchow & Righter lawyers appears all over it. Not only does the name of the game (which I dare not repeat) appear everywhere in ALL CAPS, but it is tagged with the trademark symbol hundreds and hundreds of times, though not consistently. This gives the book the appearance of an official screed from the publishers of the game, which I don't believe it is. But if you don't mind fighting your way through this annoying clutter, there's lots to learn from this book.

Summary: Best how-to book
Comment: Along with the official third edition of the Scrabble dictionary, this is all you'll ever need to become a competent player. It's worth the price just to get the lists of 2-letter, then 3-letter add-on words. Lots of exercises if you're really into it. I play on the computer and have dramatically improved my score with this. As other reviewers have noted, just be sure the words listed are also in the official dictionary--they're not hard to spot and if you make a mistake and get challenged once you'll never forget to avoid them thereafter!

Summary: great reference
Comment: This book is worth the lists of 2 letter words, 3 letter words, words containing j,x,z etc. alone.
Just studying these lists and learning new strategies has raised my score significantly.
There are also a lot of puzzles which I'll tackle next. Good for anyone interested in improving thier score.
