Summary: Disappointed
Comment: As a childhood fan of the Berenstain Bears, I was interested to see what a book about religion in Bear Country would be like. Unfortunately, I did not care for the result. Despite the title, there isn't much of a questioning tone about religion here. The younger bears are told point blank that "God exists and that he made everything." The book presents the Bear family (along with the rest of Bear Country) as Christian as well, which struck me as a bit exclusive. I wonder why the authors would decide to take such long-standing characters and assign a particular religion to them. Surely there must be thousands of children of other religions who also enjoy this series? I would recommend this book to Christian parents only. Members of other religions, as well as atheists and agnostics, will probably want to pass it by.

Summary: The Berenstain Bears and the Big Question
Comment: I love all of The Berenstein Bear books. I've been reading them since I've been a kid. I'm now 20 years old and I still read the books. But this one offends me. I love Jan & Stan Berenstain, but why did they have to bring 'God' into the series? I am an atheist, and hearing/reading the word 'God' makes me sick! I'm sick of people being obsessed with all these mythical gods and stuck up in religion! I crave the day that religion and the belief in gods is completely destroyed from people's minds. Bringing 'God' into my favorite children's book series is an absolute disgrace.

Summary: Yes, Little Bear, There is a God.
Comment: In this edition to the Berenstain Book series, the Bear Family tackles the big question: "What's God?". It's a question that all children and even many adults ask. Unfortunately, adults often ignore that question or choose to ignore where it leads them. Fortunately, children are still full of wonder and aren't quite so illogical when it comes to such things. I was happy to see that the Bear family helped Sister Bear learn about God by taking her to a place where she was sure to find an answer: church. Children know there is a God and it's good to know that the Berenstains know that, too.
