Summary: Nice for a 1st year neurology resident
Comment: This is a nice, skinny little book that covers EMG/NCV for the novice. It has some early chapters that reviews the electronics of EMG/NCV (this is probably worth the price of the book; honestly, it's all you'll need to know about that for your boards), as well as an overview of various findings in different diseases, then the relevant peripheral anatomy/neuroanatomy, as well as what you're looking for and why. It doesn't really give you a lot of information about how to actually do the tests, which is fine--there are some other good books for that. It just gives you enough of an overview about everything involved so that you can be an intelligent consumer of the tests--know what to order when, and how to use the results--as well as enough info for your NRITE in the spring to do respectably (as an N1). You will, though, need another book to learn how to actually do the studies (I favor Kimura for this, although it's not nearly as easy to read as this book; still, having read this book, I was well-prepared for Kimura). A good purchase for the junior neurology resident.
