Summary: Wisdom told briefly and clearly
Comment: I confess I didn't expect much from this book when I first heard about it. After seeing the author on OPRAH, I figured the content would be mostly recycled inspiration geared to hopelessly neurotic and overly hormonal female members of this planet. But since I happen to be going through a period of my life where I am experiencing a lot of spiritual upheaval, trying to make a huge quantum leap of my own, I found myself drawn to the idea of buying a copy. After searching high and low, I finally managed to obtain the book (should have ordered from Amazon in the first place) and read it over New Year's weekend (not 40 days). In the end, I was so glad I did buy it, because it turns out that Iyanla Vanzant has a gift for speaking directly and truthfully. She doesn't hide a thing from the reader, and that makes it less likely a reader who is ready to receive some guidance won't be able to hide from him/herself. I found the book encouraging, too, because it confirmed that I'm taking the right steps to improve my life and get a good handle on the future. No doubt anyone who is ready for this book will be impressed at how much Iyanla is in touch with the Life Force and feel their own life force strengthened after reading it.

Summary: very spritiual, uplifting, deep soul searching ,real honest
Comment: This book lays it on the line when it comes to digging way deep down in your soul for the truth. Only those of you who what to be true in spirit, mind, body, and soul in your beliefs with the divine, can comprehend, and see the real essence that Iyanla is trying to relate to you. THIS BOOK IS NO JOKE. I loan the book to my pastor's wife during our wednesday night praise service and she hasn't returned it yet. There was no way that I could read the book without feeling a gusty deep spiritual uplifting within. I followed all instructions in the book and read it before I would get out of the bed in the morning and then again before retiring at nite. I would sometimes read a chapter in the book and then find some type of bible verses that related to what I had just read. If, before you read this book you didn't have faith in the divine, or even knew how powerful you are with the blessings of God spiritually, then I'm sure after you read this book, your spirits and your faith in the divine will be greater than ever before. I truly would recommend this book for all readers. I intend to pass this book on as gifts, to those that I know who would love to be up lifted spiritually, in any shape form or fashion.

Summary: Beware!
Comment: All I can say is "avoid this mess alone." That's all this author's publications are -- spiritual mess. A bit of new age here, occult there, and a healthy dose of self-centeredness and walla! Vanzant created her own patchwork quilt of a religion!

Someone recommended this book, like it was a great masterpiece. I could not get through the first few pages. Vanzant's writing style is superficial and amatuerish. Worse, is that she flies in the face of those who profess Christianity. I got this book out of my face and house in the same manner as a voodoo doll.

Despite the user-friendly marketing approach of Ms. Vanzant, this book can easily be seen as not very deep, even by lukewarm religious people. God warns us in the OT and NT of the Bible of the days when women try to create religion and usurp authority (in this case, profit$$) from men. This book is written in the spirit of Jezebel. Repent, Ms. Vanzant, repent!!!!!!!!
