Summary: A Worthy Successor
Comment: If you're afraid you've run out of Oz books to read, then this book is for you. If you're worried about reading an Oz book that's not by the original author, don't - Roger S. Baum has captured all the magic and wonder that L. Frank Baum's books were famous for. Dorothy of Oz is a delightful book, perfect for reading aloud to the kids or for the adult who is young at heart. The illustrations are beautiful and the tale is original, engaging, and very "Oz." It's clear Mr. Baum put a great deal of thought, care, and love into writing this book. I hope everyone, of all ages, will enjoy reading it.

Summary: All About "Dorothy of Oz"
Comment: This was a FANTASTIC Book! I was not able to buy it, but I did burrow it from a library along with 2 other 'Oz' books. The full-colour frontispiece by Elizaveth Miles was absolutely beautiful with Dorothy, the Lion, the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman in a sunny forest, and the black-and-white illustrations are reallly good, especially with new characters like Wise the Owl-like bird, the Candy people and so many others. The story begins with Dorothy in Kansas when she notices a rainbow and she, with Toto runs towards it and is happily reunited with Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, who tells Dorothy she must return to Oz to help her friends. Thankfully, Glinda has managed to bring back the magic Silver Shoes to Dorothy, and the two RETURN TO OZ OVER THE RAINBOW!! There, Dorothy's adventures begin by arriving in the North of Oz at the Gillikin Country, meeting new characters (among them is Wise, the Candy People and the Jester) and arrives at Queen Gayalette's castle where everybody has been turned to little china dolls. Dorothy learns that the Jester is using the wand that the Wicked Witch of the West to do his work, and in order to save Toto, she manages in having the Jester return the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman and Lion to their normal selves. Dorothy has a plan to save Oz which will need Glinda's help. The four friends once again travel around Oz, meeting new characters and being reunited with a few old friends. Much of the adventure has Dorothy's friends, new and old, breaking evil spells that were put on by the Wicked Witches of the East and the West, whose spirits are existing. But they conquer these evil spirits and after finally reaching Glinda and Ozma in the South, Dorothy (and us) learn about the magic of Oz and how Dorothy's simple acts have defeated evil in the past. Back at the Gillikin Castle, the Jester is confronted by Dorothy and she returns him to his normal self, and seriously damaging the wand of the Wicked Witch. ... The setting of the book seems to after "Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz", but before evrything else. The returning characters are Queen Gayelette and King Quelela, the Queen of the Field Mice and her subjects, Boq and Aunt em and Uncle Henry. However, unlike all the other Oz stories, the Emerald City does not make an appearance in the story, only mentioned. In the future, when I hope to make movies and write other stories, this will be one of my favourites to make. This suitable to everybody and is for anybody who LOVES OZ, and I should know . . . I'm 18, not 12 as it says below.

Summary: Dorothy of Oz
Comment: This book was so good and Roger S. Baum really brings all the characters. He finds a different way to bring Dorothy to Oz. He also really describes everything that happens to her on her journey. He makes her adventures really exciting.
