Summary: Black life in College....
Comment: What a phenomenal first swing by Rachel Skerritt. Truth Be Told is an engaging and refreshing glimpse of black love, black life and personal and collective responsibility. Skerritt courageously explores issues of loyalty, isolation and identity as the books characters learn some of harsh lessons of life and the risks associated with daring to love.

While there is quite a bit of character introduction in the first few chapters, the last 2/3 of the book are a fast paced read that make you resist the temptation to put the book down. The email chapters were a welcomed addition that gave the book a unique flavor. On the whole, I found the book to be very enjoyable and look forward to more work from this author in the future.

Summary: The Truth about Truth Be Told
Comment: Truth Be Told by Rachel Skerritt is an excellent debut for a definite up and coming young novelist. The story that is told by the author is one that is very familiar to anyone that has gone to college and fallen in love. It is written in a very free-flowing and easy-to-read style that is also "with the times". There are chapters that are purely e-mail conversations; there are chapters that are nothing but the thoughts of each character involved. Each of these styles gives more depth to the characters and their personalities and allows the reader to really feel as if they truly know all of these people. You will relate. It is a must read. And that's the Truth!
