Summary: Lifetime of inspiration.
Comment: Jean "Moebius" Giraud created a work that transcended the comicstrip medium with Arzach. Known as the artist on the classic western series, "Lieutenant Blueberry", Giraud started experimenting with adult themes in his work, exploring a form of narrative storytelling that he channelled directly from his subconscious. Prior to Arzach there was "The Detour", still signed Gir, and then "The Horny Goof", which preempted "The Airtight Garage". But it was Arzach that had the most profound effect on the comic industry. Silent and enigmatic, it is a collection of sometimes comic, sometimes profound short stories. The artwork owes much to early American pulp work by such greats as Virgil Finley. The landscapes linger like realised dreams.
Arzach has provided me with a lifetime of inspiration in my comic work. It is timeless and it is a masterpiece. If you enjoy sophisticated free-form artwork with adult fantasy and science fiction themes, then Arzach will not disappoint.
Also check out Moebius' "The Long Tomorrow".

Summary: I wanted MOEBIUS art, not text.
Comment: I think it's important for any Moebius fans out there to note that this is NOT the same "magazine" type beautiful glossy version of Arzach that I bought from Heavy Metal several years ago. It's a book. A paperback. Same image on the cover, which is why I thought it was what I was after. I would like to know where
I can get the original magazine that was filled with MOEBIUS' artwork. "His" story telling via pictures didn't need any text - that was what was so cool about it. It was like a little mystery and the fact that there wasn't any text made it all the
more compelling. It gave you stuff to figure out. If anyone knows how to get the version I'm talking about I'd sure like to know. The title is very misleading to anyone who thinks this book is filled with Moebius art, it's not. There's a few
good black and white drawings, but other than the cover there's no color at all. Very disappointing. Does anyone know where can I find the original version???

Summary: What dunces the two previous posters are
Comment: ...It's pretty clear this is a novelization, like the great X-Men or Silver Surfer novels from the same publisher, doh. And the guy looking for the ARZACH comic -- have you tried typing ARZACH here? There are not one but TWO editions of Moebius' superb graphic novels on sale here. (Highly recommended too.) If you like traditional sword & sorcery, sort of like Moorcock's Elric, you'll like that novel. It's unpretentious and fun. There's a cool map too.
