Comment: What a pity that the author started writing her magnificent, picaresque tales so late in her life! I've hunted down and read virtually every Lena Kennedy novel, and they all share that bittersweet, epic quality. If only more modern-day authors had the talent to paint such vivid little words and unforgettable characters!
