Summary: Not for children
Comment: Many years ago, my father had a soft cover book called "Escape, Evasion and Survival." I think he got it from the U.S. Army. The title seemed interesting, but the book was boring: mostly about hiding, first aid, finding and eating plants and animals. Maybe something about Morse Code or nuclear attacks. Few illustrations. I lost the book in the woods. Dad said it wasn't worth going back to get it. But I never forgot the title. Is this the same book? I'd like to buy one if anyone has one to spare.

Summary: The SAS Escape, evasion and survivial manual
Comment: This book will be with me forever. Its one of the best books I have read on the subject of survival and escape techniques.

Summary: SAS S.E.R.E. Handbook
Comment: A excellently written book. After spending time with the SAS on TDY & again working with them as instructors at the International Long Range Recon School (ILRRPS), then in Weingarten Germany, it is good to see much of they're instructional material in print & available. In comparison to US Army FM 21-76, this manual is far superior. As a member of USASOC at Ft. Bragg, NC (USA), I have used this manual in the conduct of training on numerous instances. Even though I am a graduate of the JFKSWC SERE-"A" course at Ft.Bragg, much of the data presented is exceptional, e.g. "Escape & Evasion", is info not available to the average soldier, unfortunately. A proper Team Leader, or platoon sergeant, would find many ideas in establishing POI's for training. If you are currently on duty, or just interested in survival, this is a superior manual. Unfortunately there are MANY "survival manuals" on the market, that the best use for them is the pages as tinder. This isn't one of those. The material contained is a some what civilian-ized, however, the info is all workable & easy for anyone to understand. The Evasion & Escape chapter, however basic, is far more than is presented in most military manuals. Regardless of rank, add this to the "load-out pallet!" While not the only book of this nature, it is one of the best. Chris Ryan, SAS(ret.), was able to E&E from Iraq to Syria during the Gulf War, remarkable by any standards; much of the knowledge contained in this manual, i.e. extensive training in all climates, (with a lot of luck!), is one of the things that most certainly helped him "Beat the Clock."
