Summary: At last!!! An SAT review book that we can relate to!!!!!
Comment: At last, a useful SAT preparation book tailored to the needs of today's teenagers!!!!!! Unlike some other books that were written by old folks who were born "before the invention of the #2 pencil," we can actually learn something from this one!! Although it doesn't have very many practice questions, it gives you all the tips you need and then some! One little quibble (good vocab word, by the way) that I have about this book is the recipe for "sweet and tasty 800 bars." Not only is eating prohibited in the testing halls, but there is also scientific evidence that sugar rots your brain cells, therefore defeating the entire purpose! The smarter thing to do would be to eat a wholesome dinner the night before (fish is always good brain food, but if you're a vegan, tofu will do), and to have a high-carb breakfast (I'm talking oatmeal, not doughnuts). Aside from their poor eating habits (like most teenagers), these authors were right on the ticket! The math and verbal tips were useful yet laughable (unlike what the adults say, all the stuff about sex and TV actually works!), and I'm also thankful for the book's method of preparing your SAT II essay in advance. The tips on concentration and relaxation were also really useful not just in the "three most torturous hours of one's high school career," but also in my own life. I especially liked the theme of personifying the ETS as an unfathomably long, malodorous, loathsome, odious, beguiling, deceitful serpent throughout the entire book- it made it seem more fun to outwit it, which the authors say is the key to acing the SAT. Overall, snaps to Larry, Manek, Paul, Michael, Hannah, and Adam on one of the greatest SAT review books in the history of today's teens!!!!!!!

Summary: Quite Humorous
Comment: If you have to get one SAT book (but why would you? =), this is a good book to get. From the start, they say they will not produce fluffy fake questions that can be found in other books, instead they reccomend you get 10 Real SATs (which is very good advice). While most of the information in here can be found in other SAT Prep books, say the Princeton Review, this book is much more funnier than their counterparts. If you need an example, check one of the last chapters where it describes how you should bubble in those pesky circles. It also goes into fairly good detail about the SAT2 Writing test (which also means it covers the PSAT Writing Section) as well.

Summary: Occasionally funny, but more or less a waste of money
Comment: I got this book hoping for some new insight and ideas. After all, it's written by people with 1550s and above, it must be good, right? The concepts presented, especially in the math section, were dummed-down basic 8th grade algebra and a little 9th grade geometry. The verbal section was slightly more helpful, and the list of words to learn is nice, but many of the definitions are incomplete (it's hard to learn a word as well as you need to know it for the SAT from a definition and a sentence, to be fair). Some of the additional advice is useful, and the section on guessing provides some interesting insight and results of original experiments, but it wasn't enough to recommend this book.

Finally, much of the advice was incredibly stupid (suggesting that one skip the last reading passage because it's hard and you'll have more time for the other problems).

I will say that I didn't find a single factual mistake in the entire book.

If you're getting below 1000 composite on the SAT, this book may be for you, but if you're in the 1200-1300 or above range, this isn't worth the time or money.
